Falken was just 7.799 seconds short of a podium finish at the close of the 60th ADAC H&R Cup at the Nürburgring, with Alexandre Imperatori and Jens Klingmann ultimately snatching fourth place after an awesome performance in their BMW M6 GT3. The Eifel welcomed teams and visitors to the third VLN round at the Nürburgring with cool but dry weather conditions. For Falken, it was the first of a further four planned races in the 2018 season. Everything went according to plan for the tyre maker during qualifying. Klaus Bachler (A) and Dirk Werner (D) clocked up an 8:00.667 minute lap time – or a breathtaking average of 182.4 km/h – securing starting position number five in the fastest Porsche. Alexandre Imperatori (CH) and Jens Klingmann (D) needed 8:02.999 minutes for the 24.358 kilometres, their BMW falling into line behind the Porsche in eighth position. Klaus Bachler was able to make good one position directly at the start of the race, but a powertrain fault already during the first lap forced him out in the “Hohe Acht" zone. This was the first time since its debut in the 2016 season that the otherwise extremely reliable Falken Porsche 911 GT3 R (Type 991) was forced out of a race due to a technical defect. Things went a lot better, by contrast, for the Falken BMW M6 GT3: Imperatori and Klingmann fought their way forward, step by step, repeating their good qualifying performance during the race. During the second half of the race, the BMW duo was in grasping distance of a podium position, and even light rain in the closing stages was unable to thwart their advance. After the four hour race, Imperatori and Klingmann crossed the finishing line in fourth place, as the best performing BMW. The next race for Falken will be on 18th August 2018 at the ROWE 6 Hour ADAC Ruhr Cup Race, the highlight of the VLN 2018 season.
